Nicolas
I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where jiu jitsu and surfing are the culture. I always played sports. I trained jiu jitsu as a kid, then stopped for a few years to surf, until at 18 a neighbor pulled me back onto the mat, and I never stopped.
I went from white to brown belt at Brigadeiro Jiu Jitsu under master Marcelo Brigadeiro, taught by Marquinho Pit Bull. After my brown belt I moved and found West Side Jiu Jitsu under Professor Gustavo Borges (Mamute), where I started teaching.
That led to teaching at Gracie Kore, Kyra Gracie's renowned academy, where I took courses and learned from jiu jitsu legends like Roger Gracie, Kyra Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Ralph Gracie and Pedro Valente, and taught alongside Rayron Gracie. That is where I learned to teach with real method and excellence. I received my black belt from Gustavo Borges (Mamute), West Side Jiu Jitsu and GFTeam.
Today I have 15 years dedicated to jiu jitsu and 5 years teaching, and I run my own school, Holmes Jiu Jitsu. I believe jiu jitsu is a tool to transform lives. It is more than a martial art, it builds better people with values, respect, discipline, focus and resilience. At Holmes we teach children and adults, because jiu jitsu is for everyone.
